Funding Awarded: $130 Million for the Grid Resilience and Innovation Partnerships (GRIP) Program

The Grid Resilience and Innovation Partnerships (GRIP) program is a Grid Deployment Office (GDO) and Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations (OCED) joint initiative which focuses on grid reliability, resiliency, and smart grid investments to upgrade the transmission and distribution systems of the nation’s electric grid. The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) appropriated approximately $10.5 billion for Fiscal Year 2022 through Fiscal Year 2026, allocating $3.9 billion for this round of funding.

The following three sections from IIJA will serve as topic areas:

  1. Section 40101(c): Preventing Outages and Enhancing the Resilience of the Electric Grid/Hazard Hardening (Grid Resilience Grants)

  2. Section 40107: Deployment of Technologies to Enhance Grid Flexibility/Smart Grid Investment Matching Grant Program (Smart Grid Grants)

  3. Section 40103(b): Program Upgrading Our Electric Grid and Ensuring Reliability and Resiliency (Grid Innovation Program)
